Beg for Forgiveness, Not Permission
When I first signed the lease for our St Marys studio back in 2017, I had no idea what I was doing.
I called the real estate agent, organised an inspection, walked through the space, and then literally turned to the guy (who by the way, I remember vividly having the same facial structure and style of Gru from Dispicable Me) and said:
“I want to take it… but I have no idea what to do next. Who do I contact at the council? How do I get permission to even start this?”
He looked at me, dead serious (like Gru also):
“Beg for forgiveness, not permission.”
And from that moment, it’s been my business mantra.
Because honestly? If I had waited until I had everything figured out, or until every piece of paper was signed in triplicate, Nin Yoga would never have been born.
Sometimes in business (and in life), you just have to leap first, figure it out later, and trust—a whole damn lot. Like a super uncomfortable amount.
So What Does This Have to Do with Google Reviews?
Well, here’s the other thing: as small business owners, we often don’t have Google’s advertising budget. We don’t have full-time marketing departments, or even part time ones.
What we do have is community — and word of mouth.
Google reviews are sooooo so helpful for small businesses like ours.
They make us easier to find online.
They give new students confidence to try a class or training.
And honestly? They mean the world to us.
So instead of worrying about whether it’s “polite” to ask, I’m taking my mantra and running with it:
I’m asking you directly.
If you’ve ever practised at Nin Yoga, joined us for a training at Kaya Academy, or felt supported by our community in some way, would you leave us a review?
Here are the links (super easy to click and type):

If links are tricky, you can also just type our names directly into Google and leave a review that way.
Let’s Lift Each Other Up
And hey — do you have a small business too? Tell meeeeeeee!
Between Nin Yoga and Kaya Academy, we’ve got a bunch of email accounts connected to Google. We’ll happily rig the system and leave you multiple 5-star reviews.
Because in small biz world, it’s always: “beg for forgiveness, not permission.”
Google already has enough money. We don’t need to hand over more cash for ad words when we can support each other instead.
So let’s do it together. Let’s lift each other up, one review at a time. Tell me your business listing on Google and ill add some more 5 stars to your plate.
